UTTIPEC Processing:

a.  Working Group recommended the project for approval with following concerns/ observations in its meeting on 17.03.09:-

 i)  It was mentioned that the proposed link road between Ring Road   & Aurobindo Marg is of critical importance and needs to be worked out carefully.  Proper loops for traffic to & from the Ring Road be worked out with proper geometrics, speed limit & adequate merging /weaving length.  In case of additional land is required the same, be examined.

ii) The integration of Nizamuddin Rly Station, ISBT Sari Kale Khan and landscape scheme is essential for integrated development.

iii) There has to be a dedicated entry/exist for ISBT and driving   training centre in view of the existing constraints. Entry/exists on Ring Road need to be minimized.  It will be necessary to widen the road between ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan Basti by retrieving some area from the ISBT land for entry/access for the ISBT.

iv) In view of the high volume of pedestrian traffic, NMV’s and local traffic, suitable arrangements be made for segregated movements with adequate parking.  It was suggested that the possibility of increasing the width of elevated corridor and provision of sickbay for breakdown vehicles be examined along with proper pedestrian facilities at grade.

 v) The junction at Ring Road needs to be improved with proper slip road & with adequate merging length.

vi) Feasibility for provision of separate lane for buses to enter from Ring Road side (along Siddhartha Enclave and passing below the elevated corridor into the ISBT) be worked out.

vii) Suitable junction design with appropriate road geometrics be examined at Aurobindo Marg.

viii) Proposed reduced pier height for the corridor over the railway land with 8.5 m.  be reviewed in consultation with Northern Railways.

ix) The width of elevated carriage way be increased to min. 11 mtr. on either side with consideration of dedicated public  Transit Corridor, in future.

  b. In addition to the observations of WG II-A, the UTTIPEC Governing Body in its meeting held on 20.3.09 under the Chairmanhip of Hon’ble LG, while approving the broad features of the proposal made following specific suggestions :

      i)  As part of the project, special emphasis be laid on treatment of drain     water, incorporation of rain water harvesting and proper landscaping of the drain.  Appropriate integration of interchange facilities at Safdarjung Terminal and Ring rail stations, was also suggested.
