| The project of MCD was considered by UTTIPEC Working Group II-A & II-B in its meeting dated 20.11.08. Working Group observation is reproduced below:
Observations: i. A revised proposal jointly worked out by the MCD and the Northern Railways, termed as the first phase plan, was presented by the Engg.-in-Chief (MCD). ii. The Proposal for first phase involves one-way movement along Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg and Asaf Ali Marg and an underpass along Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg . iii. Another proposal, termed as the second phase plan for the zone, involving several grade separators at various junctions, was presented by the C.E. (Const.) N.R. and the consultant. iv. The second phase plan covers the area between Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Chelmsford Road. v. None of the two proposal include the western bottleneck along D. B. Gupta Road. vi. The proposals do not include dedicated lanes for public transport buses and interchange facilities for public transport system. vii. A detailed study of the traffic characteristics in the surrounding area has been awarded to M/s RITES by the NR. Decisions: i. A detailed design, for the first phase, based on the joint proposal of the MCD and the NR, along with the observations of the Working Group, may be submitted for detailed appraisal by the Working Group. ii. The comprehensive proposal for the entire area may be developed, after analysing the findings of the study initiated by NR/RITES, and presented as per the format for submission. iii. UTTIPEC Governing Body approved the plan phase-I, submitted by Railway in the meeting chaired by LG on 21.11.08 |
